Come on pretty baby take a walk with me
Down the back alley where nobody sees
All your life they told you you can’t win
But when I look in your eyes I see the fire within
I’m the real deal, this ain’t no show
When I sing these Blues you’ll know
I’m genuine
Everybody’s talking , but few of them know
‘Cause talking is free, but silence is gold
I got no story, no jive and no spin
Comfortable living in my natural skin
Some got more money some got more fame
I make no false claims,
I’m genuine
My father always told me choose your battles, son
The show ain’t over ‘till the fat lady’s sung
So I won’t fight ‘em if I can tell
That if I give enough rope they gonna hang themselves
I wrestled the angel until the dawn
I fought those demons ‘till they’ve gone
back to hell
When you see me coming don’t you make me wait
The night ain’t over but it’s getting late
We’re getting out of town, heading for the hills
Baby, take the key, and get behind the wheel
You’ve been around, seen ‘em come and go
You’ve seen enough to know
I’m genuine
Just your fool
The same thing
I’m your man
© Music and Lyrics by Dov Hammer
I’m like a star without a stage, a king without a throne
I come from many places, but none of them is home
I know this ain’t what you planned - but baby I’m your man
I been preaching to the choir, casting my pearls to swine
I can’t control my desire, that’s why I keep on trying
To make you understand - baby I’m your man
Bridge:
One step forward, two steps back, rejected and refused
You got me frozen in my tracks, you got me speechless, confounded and confused
You been searching everywhere, you never knew what for
The answer to your prayers, is standing at your door
I’ll take you to the promised land -baby I’m your man
Bridge:
I would leap over mountains, sail across the seas, I would sleep down in the sand
An army of thousands couldn’t stop me, I just got to be your man
I don’t care what you wear, how many shoes you own
I want to be the one who’s there, when you’re at home all alone
Turn off that phone and take my hand - baby I’m your man
Exile
© Lyrics & Music by Dov Hammer
Spent 40 years in the wilderness on the way to the promised land
But there's never no rest for the wicked, no relief for an honest man
I was born in exile, and exile is what I am
Spend my days between hope and despair,
And the nights bring me no relief
I used to dream of getting away from here
Now the earth’s burning under my feet
But I was born in exile, and the flames seem to follow me
The sharks smell blood in the water, buzzards circling in the sky
In the farm lands down on the border, the crops are rotting on the vines
I was born in exile, but I’m not leaving this time
Moses shattered the tablets, and whacked the boulder with his rod
And even God in his heaven, drowned the whole world with his flood
You know I ain’t a saint or a prophet, I’m just one step past being fed up
Muddy Waters singing still a fool,
Albert Collins says don’t lose your cool
William Clarke is blowing the family jewels,
Son Seals don’t hear nothing but the Blues
I’m a lifetime exile, and this is where I hear the truth
Fair weather friends
© 2023 Music and lyrics by Dov Hammer
The seconds pass slowly like days
My thoughts just get lost in a maze
Since that lonely morning, Blues fell without warning
Time goes but the pain still remains
But I can face adversity, I won’t break even if I bend
I don’t fear my enemies, but Lord save me from fair weather friends
Now nothing remains of my dreams
I try to make plans but it seems
Like the gods can’t stop laughing, and I feel trapped in
A vision that no man should see
My soul can’t find relief, not everything that’s torn can mend
I don’t fear no enemy, but Lord save me from fair weather friends
I picked up my phone to call you
I needed to see if it’s true
But I put it back down, because I can't stand the sound
Of my heart being broken in two
I got no time for niceties, I have no patience to pretend
I don’t fear no enemy, but Lord save me from fair weather friends
The earth will still turn when we’re gone
There’s nothing new under the sun
But it sure don’t take long to learn which side you’re on
When you’re on the wrong end of the gun
I don’t need no sympathy, I know who’ll be with me till the end
I don’t fear no enemy, but Lord save me from fair weather friends
Back to the wall
©Music & Lyrics by Dov Hammer
There’s a storm brewing, and there’s nowhere to hide
Evil wind’s gonna blow away anything that’s not tied
I ain’t gonna wait around for the lord to provide
When your back’s to the wall you know it’s time to choose a side
I don’t ever run even when I’m being chased
But I paid too high a price for decisions made in haste
If you think I’m joking take a look at my face
‘cause my back’s to the wall, got no more words to waste
Some days I feel like my world is gone
I’m a two-time exile, and there’s no place I belong
I can’t even find a hook to hang my thoughts on
And my back’s to the wall, I may not be here long
Bridge:
But the bigger they are the harder they fall
I sure hate to fight but you know I can’t let them make me crawl
There’s bonfires out on the highway and the riot squad’s been called
I got nothing to lose with my back to the wall
I’m awake before dawn, staring out at the gloom
I feel like a lone wolf howling at the moon
I can’t shake this feeling of impending doom
Well my back’s to the wall, but the daylight’s gonna be here soon
Last night
I’m getting tired
Music & Lyrics by Ted Cooper
I'm getting tired of hanging around
I'm getting weary of wearing this frown
I'm looking out for something new
I'm getting tired of you
Same old faces that I see
Same old traces of misery
I got to turn around
And lay my burden down
You see I don't know why you make me mad
I don't know why you make me sad
I don't understand how you make me blue
But I'm getting tired of you
It's a new horizon that's what I see
A fresh wind gonna blow away this mediocrity
It might sound sleazy but it's true
I'm getting tired of you
I'm getting tired of hanging around
I'm getting weary if wearing this frown
I'm looking out for something new
And I'm getting tired of you
Take a message
Keep on searching
Lyrics: Dov Hammer Music: Dov Hammer & Ronnie Katz
Everyone travels a hard road
And everyone carries a heavy load
No need to sigh, ai'nt no need to cry
Keep on searching for a way to go
No one is getting a free ride
And no one can really find a place to hide
Don't stop to complain, no need to explain
Keep on searching for peace of mind
Everyone's searching for higher ground
And everyone's looking for that special sound
So don't hesitate, ain't no need to wait
Keep on flying, don't look down
Every day is a new day
And every page is a new page
So make a new start, change the bad parts
Keep on searching for a new way
